Privacy

This site doesn't have accounts, comments, or newsletter signups (yet), and it doesn't set any cookies or use local storage to track you. The one part of it that reaches out to anywhere else is described below, and only if you choose to press a button.

There may occasionally be polls or forms, with a clearly indicated submit button. Pressing submit is the only way to deliberately send me anything, and what it records is a timestamp, which form it was, and whatever you typed or chose. Checking that you're not a bot does involve your IP address and some details about your browser, but that's handled by Turnstile — see below — and none of it is stored alongside what you sent. No address, no identifier, no fingerprint. If you never press anything, nothing is recorded.

To keep bots from abusing a form or running up a bill, those buttons use Turnstile, Cloudflare's CAPTCHA alternative. It loads only once you press one — before that, nothing is fetched from Cloudflare at all. To decide whether you're a bot it looks at your IP address, your browser's user agent and TLS fingerprint, and which site the widget is sitting on. It doesn't leave a cookie behind to remember that you passed: that's an optional Turnstile feature and it's switched off here, so the pass it hands back is single-use and expires within a few minutes. Turnstile is covered by Cloudflare's Turnstile Privacy Addendum.

If I ever add a form that collects more than what you explicitly put into it, this page will say so, and so will the form itself, where you can see it.

It's hosted on Cloudflare, which — like any web host — logs visitor IP addresses as part of normal operation. The site also uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a cookieless analytics tool, to see aggregate page views and referrers, along with page load performance timings measured in your browser. That data isn't shared with anyone or used for advertising.

On Cloudflare's free plan, which this site uses, metrics collected by Cloudflare's EU/EEA data centers are dropped by default — so if you're visiting from there, none of the above reaches me.

This policy may change as the site grows; check back if you're curious.
